Fred and Lorraine Cox started " Freddy's Lefse
" in their kitchen in 1946. They had always worked in bakeries, and saw a growing
demand for lefse. In the late 40's they moved into the building
shown in the picture on this page. Their business continued to grow
through the years. In l977 Freddy's Lefse built its present
shop in Fargo.
Supplying local grocery stores and bakeries was not
always easy, so lefse production has been perfected over the years.
Although times change, the art of lefse making remains the same.
Freddy's Lefse is proud of the fact that it is still hand rolled and fried
to perfection.
Terry Cox and Barry Cox now own and operate Freddy's
Lefse in the same tradition as their parents. Along with Terry's wife,
Michele, and the many loyal employees, we continue to produce a top
quality lefse that we are
extremely proud of.
Freddy's Lefse is distributed throughout the tri-state area,
and has a mail order business that reaches throughout the
United States including Alaska. Customers have also personally sent Freddy's
Lefse to many countries, including Greenland, Japan,
Norway and Africa!
Today, Freddy's Lefse is not just a Norwegian favorite, it is
enjoyed by people of all nationalities.
